Tips for being comfortable in front of camera

Most of us aren’t used to being in front of the camera too often, unless it’s in selfie mode. Right? But we also enjoy having pretty photos of ourselves, especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion like an engagement or anniversary.

As someone who spends most of their time behind the camera, I know how awkward it can be when the time comes to be in front of the camera.

I want to share some tips to help you stay relaxed during your next photoshoot so you can get those beautiful, natural, authentic photos that you want!

How to Feel Confident at Your Photoshoot

Chose a photographer with images you love.

Chose someone whose work resonates with you. When you work with a photographer, you’re not just paying for any old photos, you’re paying for that specific photographers style of how they shoot and edit. Make sure you chose someone who has photo’s that you love, because you’re going to get something very similar.

2. Move around

This might sound counter intuitive. We’re taking still photos, not recording video, right? Movement is one of the most important aspects of getting natural, beautiful photos! Swaying, walking, and running all help create movement that is natural instead of a stiff, unnatural poses. Plus you get to play games and have a ton of fun!

3. Make it interactive.

Play games, run around, or dance! Some of the best photo’s come from simple things like dancing or telling your partner a silly joke.

4. Focus on your partner & be yourself

Photographers like me are all about those natural moments. That means we want you to just be you. Don’t over think it, just be you and focus on each other.

5. Have fun

Whether that’s making silly jokes, running around, dancing, or giving your partner a piggy back ride, just focus on having fun!

There’s so many ways to achieve natural photos, and what it all comes down to is just being yourself. So loosen up, make the silly joke, and just have fun!
